The square Nomos Tetra is now available with four new striking dial colours, each inspired by the city of Berlin, and equipped with Nomos’ in-house, hand-wound movements.

At Baselworld 2014 Nomos, the German manufacturer of cheerful and modestly priced timepieces, will present the Tetra Berlin set, a quartet of watches in what it calls “very metropolitan colours”, ranging from rose gold to dark blue. Each Tetra has a 29.5 mm by 29.5 mm steel case with sapphire crystals on both sides, and coloured dials with gold-plated hands. And all are powered by Nomos’ in-house calibres. Four models are available. The Kleene (Berlin dialect for “little one”), which has a celadon green dial and the only one with a power reserve indicator.

The other three are all time-only watches, the Goldelse (named after the gold statue on the Berlin Victory Column), the green-dial Clärchen (after a famous dance hall in Berlin), and the blue Nachtijall (“nightingale).

Each Berlin watch (except the Kleene) is equipped with the manual-wind Nomos Alpha movement. This is a time-only movement based on the Peseux 7001 but modified and attractively finished by Nomos. The Kleene has a power reserve indicator and contains the DUW 4301, an in-house calibre from the same family as the new movements found in the high-end Lambda and Lux models Nomos launched last year. Prices have yet to be announced, but based on the current collection, the Berlin time-only models will retail for approximately US$2320 and the power reserve model will be around US$3000. All four models are delivered on a grey straps.
