Letter from the founder

I have had a deep and unusual interest in watches since 1997, and this is a result of that. It began as a personal blog, after I had been a freelance journalist, specialising in watches, for all the daily newspapers in Singapore, as well as a moderator on an online watch forum.

Seeking a space to collect my thoughts on watches and the industry, I started this in 2011 as a one-man operation. It continued that way for several years, though now we are a full-time editorial team, including an in-house photographer, along with several occasional but valued contributors.

I use my initials, “SJX”, widely online, which is where the site name comes from. My own interest in watches is diverse, though independent watchmaking is a particular favourite. And I also love the nerdy, technical stuff, like the most accurate wristwatch ever, as well as interesting historical stories, like J.P. Morgan’s lost grand complication for instance.

If you want to get in touch, drop me a line via the contact form.
