Louis Vuitton Presents The Psychedelic Escale Worldtime “The World is a Dancefloor” For Only Watch

The hand-painted, multicolour dial of the Louis Vuitton Escale Worldtime has been made even more vivid with the one of a kind “The World is a Dancefloor” wristwatch created for Only Watch 2015.

Paul Pettavino, the 19 year old son of Only Watch founder Luc Pettavino, suggested a wristwatch with a chequered dance floor motif, resulting in Louis Vuitton Escale Worldtime “The World is a Dancefloor”. Based on the Escale Worldtime, this unique edition for the Only Watch charity auction is adorned with hand-painted, multicoloured squares on the almost psychedelic dial. All of the dial components are hand-painted, including the two discs that indicate the hours and minutes. The white gold case measures 41mm in diameter, with all the functions of the watch controlled via the crown, hence the lack of buttons on the case.

The movement was created by La Fabrique du Temps, a movement specialist now owned by Louis Vuitton. It’s self-winding with a mystery rotor, visible on the back. The rim of the rotor spins around the silkscreened “LV” logo on the sapphire crystal, with no apparent connection to the movement, hence the “mystery” moniker. The rim of the case back is engraved “Only Watch 2015” and “No. 1/1”, since it is a unique piece.

The Escale Worldtime “The World is a Dancefloor” is accompanied by one of Louis Vuitton’s signature trunks in graphite Damier canvas with a hand-painted dance floor motif on its lid.

All the proceeds from the auction, which takes place on November 7, 2015, will go towards research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an illness that afflicts Paul Pettavino and the impetus behind Luc’s creation of Only Watch.

Introducing The Bell & Ross BR 01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon, A Unique Piece For Only Watch 2015

Only Watch releases continue apace with the Bell & Ross BR 01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon, featuring a bronze case with a solid gold, hand-engraved skull at its centre.

For the first time Bell & Ross has used bronze for the case of its signature BR 01, an aviation inspired square wristwatch. With the patina that bronze quickly acquires, the case is a perfect fit for the pirate theme of the Bell & Ross BR 01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon, a one of a kind timepiece made for Only Watch 2015.

The dial of the watch is framed by a skull and crossbones-shaped bezel, while the hands are shaped like cutlasses and daggers. At six o’clock sits the flying tourbillon, with a carriage made of pink gold.

Also made of pink gold is the hand engraved skull at the centre of the dial. The time is indicated regulator-style, with the hour hand mounted on the nose of the skill, while the minutes are shown via the large hand in the centre. The two small hands at three and nine o’clock each indicate torque and power reserve.

The movement is hand-wound, with a five day power reserve. It was originally developed by defunct movement specialist BNB Concept, whose team has migrated to Hublot.

Much like a pirate’s treasure, the Bell & Ross BR 01 Skull Bronze Tourbillon is presented in a wood chest.

Taking place on November 7, 2015, Only Watch is dedicated to raising funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
