News: Lange Tourbillon Pour le Mérite in platinum sells for EUR248,000
A few days ago a Lange Tourbillon Pour le Mérite in platinum, no. 20/50, sold for EUR248,000 at German auction house Dr Crott’s sale in Frankfurt last week. That sum is equivalent to about USD316,000. This continues to prove the growing desirability of the original Lange Tourbillon Pour le Mérite tourbillon.

A yellow gold version sold for USD188,500 at Antiquorum in mid-2012, and of course there were the two unique pieces – with a smaller, 36 mm case as well as one with a salmon dial – that sold for even more. Interestingly however an 1815 Moonphase in pink gold sold for EUR19,200 (about USD24,500) at the same Dr Crott’s auction last week. That’s a fair price but not an exceptional one. – SJX
