Up Close With the H. Moser & Cie. Perpetual 1 Golden Edition (with Original Photos & Price)
Schaffhausen based H. Moser & Cie. is best known for its Perpetual 1, a cleverly condensed perpetual calendar originally devised by Andreas Strehler for Moser. The Perpetual 1 Golden Edition is a special version of the brand’s signature timepiece.

H. Moser’s flagship timepiece is undoubtedly the Perpetual 1, an ingenious perpetual calendar which simplifies the calendar display, yet does not miss anything. This year sees the launch of the H. Moser Perpetual 1 Golden Edition, mechanically identical to the regular model, except that several key components, inside and out, are in solid gold. The escape wheel and pallet fork are solid gold, as are the screws on the balance wheel. Similarly the bridges and base plate are solid gold with a frosted finish. And the dial, hands and indices are also solid gold.
To top it all off the endstone for the balance staff is a diamond. Like the Perpetual 1 this watch also has the Straumann double hairspring.

According to Moser this watch is finished to a higher standard than the regular Perpetual 1, hence the retail which is more than twice that the standard model. The bridges certainly demonstrate artfully executed anglage but beyond that I do not detect different finishing from the regular model, which is well finished in itself.
Though I typically dislike Moser’s “fume” dial which are reminisicent of slightly burnt parchment, the brown fume dial of the Perpetual Golden Edition is gorgeous. Compared to the regular edition this is not extraordinarily superior, but a beautiful watch nonetheless. The retail price of the Perpetual 1 Golden Edition is US$102,000.
