Letter from the founder

I have had a deep and unusual interest in watches since 1997, and this is a result of that. It began as a personal blog, after I had been a freelance journalist, specialising in watches, for all the daily newspapers in Singapore, as well as a moderator on an online watch forum.

Seeking a space to collect my thoughts on watches and the industry, I started this in 2011 as a one-man operation. It continued that way for several years, though now we are a full-time editorial team, including an in-house photographer, along with several occasional but valued contributors.

I use my initials, “SJX”, widely online, which is where the site name comes from. My own interest in watches is diverse, though independent watchmaking is a particular favourite. And I also love the nerdy, technical stuff, like the most accurate wristwatch ever, as well as interesting historical stories, like J.P. Morgan’s lost grand complication for inhttps://watchesbysjx.com/wp-admin/edit.phpstance.
