“Time, a Hermès object” Exhibition Opens in Singapore

From May 24 till June 2.

Simultaneously entertaining and thought-provoking, Time, a Hermès Object  is a showcase of the Hermès 2019 watch collection that gives form to the unique artistic vision that lies at the core of its watchmaking.

Taking place at Ngee Ann City in Singapore from now till June 2, the travelling exhibition is a colourful labyrinth filled with quirky yet clever interactive elements that demonstrate Hermès’ singularity in thought and style.

Though time is, by definition, objective and quantitative, the installations encourage visitors to explore the emotional, qualitative aspect of time through various light, sound and motion effects, including a photo booth.

The watches on display include the latest iterations of the Carré H and Cape Cod, as well as the all-new, saddle-shaped Galop d’Hermès, designed by Californian, Swiss-based furniture designer Ini Archibong.

Those watches convey the offbeat creativity of the house, but none like the Arceau L’heure de la lune, the highlight of the show.

The watch is a fascinating take on the moon phase, featuring a pair of mother-of-pearl moons accompanied by two floating lacquer dials, for the time and date respectively, that rotate around the dial once every 59 days.

Conceived by Jean-Francois Mojon, founder of complications specialist Chronode, for Hermès, the satellite dials sweep over the lunar discs to display the current phase of the moon in both the southern and northern hemispheres.

Time, a Hermès Object is open to the public daily from 10:00am to 9.30pm, at the atrium on level 1 of Ngee Ann City:

391 Orchard Rd
Singapore 238873

The exhibition is open from now till June 2, 2019.
