Baselworld 2013: Bulova Calibrator with user adjustable regulator
At Baselworld 2013 Bulova will present the Accutron Calibrator. By inserting a key into the socket at nine o’clock, the wearer can adjust the rate of the watch. Bulova calls this the External Fine Adjustment System (EFAS).
I don’t have the details of exactly how this works yet, but I assume the mechanism allows the regulator index to be moved by the key. Bulova claims EFAS delivers a “a precision of 99.99% on average”, but I am not exactly sure what that means. It is a novel and intriguing idea nevertheless. Inside is a Sellita SW200, which is a clone of the ETA 2824. The watch has a 43 mm steel case with rose gold plated bezel and crown. No word on price yet. Bulova is owned by Citizen, which also owns Arnold & Son and La Joux-Perret. – SJX
