Introducing the Sinn U1 Camouflage (Incl. Hands-On Pics and Price)
Sinn gives its popular submarine steel a funky camouflage livery with a 500-piece limited edition. Details, including original photos and pricing, below.Extraordinarily robust and eminently affordable, the Sinn U1 has been one of the German watchmaker’s bestsellers. Unique for a watch case made from the same steel alloy used to make the German navy’s submarines, the U1 is now available in a green camouflage print.
Though the jungle disguise is incongruous with the 1000 m depth rating of the corrosion resistant case, it gives the watch an unusually lively look. The camouflage dial is matched with hands and markers in black Super-Luminova that still glows in the dark, but not as brightly as conventional white or green lume.
Dial aside the watch is identical to the ordinary U1, powered by the automatic Sellita SW 200 movement. The case is dense and hefty, measuring 44 mm in diameter. And the bezel has been treated with Tegiment, Sinn’s proprietary hardening technique that more than doubles the surface hardness of the metal, making it almost scratch-proof.
Sold with both a medium green rubber strap and a brown nylon Zulu strap, the U1 Camouflage is a limited edition of 500 pieces with a price tag of US$2160.
