Introducing the A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Handwerkskunst

A hand-engraved dial and Glashütte lever.

Like the earlier Richard Lange Tourbillon “Pour le Mérite” Handwerkskunst, the A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Handwerkskunst – which translate as “craftsmanship” – features a hand-engraved dial, along with additional touches of artisanal work on the movement.

The unusual, grained pattern on the dial, known as tremblage, is produced by hand with a burin on a solid white gold disc, which is then coated in black rhodium. The resulting look is reminiscent of the unique Zeitwerk in white gold made for charity.

The Lange logo and power reserve index at 12 o’clock are similar hand engraved, in relief. Like with other Zeitwerk watches, the bridge for the jump hour display is in German silver, while the seconds sub-dial is sterling silver.

Likewise over the back the German silver three quarter plate is decorated with a hand engraved grained finish and the Lange logo in relief. All the lettering on the movement and case back is hand engraved as well.

Also, the balance and escape wheel cocks are decorated with hand engraving motif unique to this edition. Furthermore, the lever and escape wheel are solid white gold.

Notably, the lever is a Glashütte lever, a special form of pallet fork with enclosed pallet jewels that was once used in watches made in the town. Now extinct, it was revived specifically for the Zeitwerk Handwerkskunst.

This limited edition will only be available at the seven Lange boutiques worldwide, most recently at the Dubai Mall, with an eighth boutique opening in Singapore’s ION Orchard soon.

Retail is €95,000, or S$151,300 in Singapore.
